I figured it was lacquer when you said you taped it off after a few hours, just wanted to make sure. I'm not having issues with application, and my primer coat looks good. I just can't get a high gloss shine. Apparently it's my lack of sanding paint coats, and polishing the clear..... guess I have to stop being lazy if I want that high gloss look Well X-Ring, sanding the paint coats with 800-1000 grit is going to help you develop some gloss on your clear coats, but you'll probably get more gloss just by adding more coats of clear...to a certain point. I put 6 coats on this car and it was close to maxed out for gloss. On a scale of 0-100, an aerosol lacquer probably will end up in the 80's...whereas enamels and 2K polyurethanes can easily get into the upper 90's...and thats before any polishing. Nice cars Mood and BSB! Its great to see some pink cars for a change BSB! Oh, and it looks like you've got the DFW side notched in close to 1/4" - LOL

Guys,
Great looking cars! I really like that combination of silver and blue. As most, I paint most of my cars with lacquer, but I have found one advantage to my crazy work schedule and that is cure time. I can't build cars as fast as I'd like so I'll paint a car and get back to it 2-3 weeks later. This gives a good amount of time to cure. Based on this I've shot my last four cars with Duplicolor acrylic enamel paint and all I can say is wow! I love how the paint flows, lays down, shines and the hardness of the paint when it is done. I'll then hit it with several coats of the clear coat and then wet sand with micro-mesh and polish. It won't work if time is tight, but if you have time I'd recommend giving it shot.

Those two blue cars look great! Very clean lines and very glassy looking.
