Common opening line:
Many of you have emailed, called or texted asking about the Newest Member information which says: Unwanted Registrant, so here I am to explain it to everyone.
Not that I don't like hearing from you all
Every online forum has it is unwanted members for various reasons. As a proactive answer to those types of sign ups here on Global Derby Society, I have inserted scripting which shows the phrase "Unwanted Registrant" rather then showing the name or names someone attempted to register. This script allows the forum to hide the name/names the registrant attempted to use in order not to draw direct attention of any type.
Protocol is, a perspective member comes to this forum and decides he/she would like to join up. So they fill out the simple registration form, which is followed by an instant email with an authorization code and link to click to activate their account. Right now all memberships are set up for approval before it becomes fully activated. All registrants enter an email address and the forum logs the Member IP address (essentially your computers phone number) into a log file for proboards security. This IP address IS fully traceable regardless of attempts to mask it. So when I go in for approval of a new account all this information is available to me. If the new registrant is not approved for membership then, as stated above, Unwanted Registrant will appear instead of the signed up username.
I hope this is helpful and answers questions for you all. As always, feel free to ask questions!!
ps. Proboard Security Log Files can not lie and can not show bias!!
